Relaxing walks in the nearby woods right from your doorstep

It might be tempting to hop in the car first thing in the morning and explore one of the countless highlights of the region. But beware that the most relaxing experience of your vacation might be right there in front of your doorstep. Directly from the apartment there is a stretch of perfectly maintained, well-signposted walking trails though the surrounding woods. Find out more on Hiking in Gudon website.

Our favourite might be the walk to residence Fonteklaus. The direct way is an hour return walk, but if you feel like walking a little longer, make the loop taking path 10b/10 towards “Mair zu Tassis” and then towards “Prantschun” and arrive to Fonteklaus for lunch or afternoon coffee. Take the path 4b/4 back to Gudon.

Hiking in the picturesque mountains

Hike along endless trails in Valle Isarco, discover the Dolomites in nearby Val di Funes, Val Gardena, and Alpe di Siusi.

Probably a lifetime wouldn’t be enough to explore all trails of the region. Not without reason it is called the Valley of Trails. The good thing: There is something suitable for all levels of fitness, experience and seasons. There is this excellent website where you can apply filters to discover the perfect hike for you.

We highly recommend the hike along Adolf-Munkel-Weg in nearby Val di Funes. Don’t forget to stop by another must-see of the region, the chapel San Giovanni Ranui.

Explore the nearby towns

Cities in South Tyrol are a true clash of cultures. A medley of Austrian traditions and Italian style.

The medieval town of Chiusa - with its contorted alleys and guarded by Castel Sabbiona - is just down the road. A couple of kilometres further north is Bressanone, a splendid cathedral town with a beautiful historic centre offering an interesting mix of joie-de-vivre and reflection. And then there is Bolzano. With its 100.000 inhabitants probably the only true city of the region. Look forward to medieval arcades and exclusive shopping. Still within reach are Merano, Vipiteno, Brunico, Trento and Innsbruck.
