Picturesque Lakes of Bolzano Area

Visit the most beautiful lakes in the area - each is just an hour drive away from our apartments.

Lake Braies is a must see! Known as the “Pearl among Dolomite lakes”, is located in a unique position in the Braies Dolomites. There is an easy, four kilometer long walking path around the lake. Alternatively, rent a boat for a romantic rowing boat trip to enjoy the beauty of the fairytale-like scenery. It is allowed to jump into the water, but watch out! Even in high summer the water is freezing cold.

Equally beautiful is Lake Carezza in Val d’Ega. Not without reason it is called the “Rainbow lake”. On a sunny day the water appears in a shiny emerald green and when the surface is still you should aim for that perfect shot: capturing a reflection of the Latemar Rosengarten Dolomites towering in the background of the lake. To avoid disappointments, please note that the lake is fenced and its is not allowed to swim.

Lake Caldaro, embedded in surrounding hills and vineyards, is situated along the Alto Adige Wine Road and might be one of the prettiest bathing lakes in the Alps. The pier of Gretl am See is perfect for taking a cool dip. However, the lake is not only great for swimming, but also for rowing, pedaloing and stand-up paddle boarding. The afternoon oftentimes brings a refreshing breeze with it and invites for a ride on a windsurf. Don’t worry, also culinary delights are not in short supply. There a plenty of nice restaurants and bars along the shore to enjoy a meal or an afternoon aperitivo.

All three lakes are about an hour drive away from our apartments. The good thing is that we are located right in the middle of all three - the perfect starting point to explore them all!
