Taste Delicious Vines From the Region

Participate in wine tours and visit local wineries that offer the most authentic experiences.

The perfect combination of rainfall, sunlight and aerated soils make for great conditions to grow wine in the region. The special microclimate here in the Isarco Valley, with hot summer days and fresh nights at vintage time, makes sure that the grapes reach maturity with a high sugar content. The light and gravelly soils, containing a great deal of minerals, provide the prevalently white wines with strong character and incomparable typicality and elegance. Buy your favorite bottle of Sylvaner, Kerner or Muller Thurgau at Eisacktaler Kelllerei or at Kloster Neustift, an abbey closeby Bressanone that is definitely worth a visit.

A little further down south, in the Bolzano valley basin and along the Alto Adige Wine Road around Lake Caldaro, there is another great wine region. The milder, alpine-Mediterranean climate produces an impressive variety of both red and white vines. Lagrein, Pinot Noir, Gewürztraminer and Vernatsch originate from this part of the country. There are 16 wine villages located along the Alto Adige Wine Road, which enrich the Wine Road with their individual charm of days gone by and modern flair. Buy your favorite bottle at Kellerei Bozen, Kellerei Kaltern or Alois Lageder, which offers a great stopover for lunch at their bistro Vineria Paradeis.

When it comes to wine, there is always something going on. An event, a party, a tasting, a guided tour. Especially the small wineries oftentimes offer the most authentic experiences. This website - using the filter “Wine” - shows all events and happenings. Please make sure to reserve your spot in advance and ask if they have offerings for english speakers.
